So… Brussels. Inevitably revisiting Tuxedomoon and my glorious Summer of ´87, when I got my first taste of suburban life in a foreign city, interviewed Steven Brown for Blitz, and bought tons of used vinyl including the Rip Rig and Panic LPs missing in my collection (their entire catalogue of 12″ singles would miraculously land on my lap a few years later in Chicago).

It´s been a long journey. My dear friend Adriano began working on this long-term research project many years ago, its path long and tortuous, culminating on the sudden and malicious wipe-out of mf v.1. Yet the question that drives memoriafutura, deep and complex in its implications yet very simple and direct in its formulation, is so relevant that it will endure pretty much anything:

What images should survive the passing of Time?

In an era of visual overabundance, which visual references do we believe should become tomorrow´s archeological findings?

Visit the resurrected memoriafutura in its early days. It will grow, literally and symbolically. This much I know.

A cycle of conferences on Arts, Ideas and the Academy. I will be contributing to the Nov.2nd session, and will be speaking on the paradigm shift currently taking place in the Arts – drifting away from the notion that the artist is singular, immune, eccentric… and gradually incorporating notions of participation and outcome.
