Pavones

photo: Luís Barbosa

The day rises long, scalding, barren
A wanderlust of masses, forlorn desire
A hydra self-digests unresolved, convoluted, surreal,
naked.

A soft, distant evening calls arid, afar
an abashment the mind blurs
heat swells and cradles this lonesome cowboy
and calls him home

Life all but an epic, clarity rescued late, remorse
Late, grazing Sun burns and bathes, all gold
and weaves this burn-out darkness I breathe
and call home
